Hey, fam!!

What up? What up? What up? When we last chatted “Pla’s Thoughts said we would be back in a few weeks. You can blame me for that. I ended up being the hospital and then to rehab followed by in-home physical therapy. There are still some issues but we are back!!

Jax has been relatively good. I think when he saw me with a walker it scared him. That didn’t last too long before ol’ Jax got used to me. The first time he saw me without my walker, that was the day he went for a run. The only difference was that I couldn’t go after him. Luckily, it was a nice ice-cold day and the day after he had his haircut. Needless to say, he came back on his own within twenty minutes he was at the door doing this pitiful whiny bark.

That’s how I have been, now let’s talk about what is on my mind. Boneless wings Yes, you read it correctly. In case you forget I’m the foodie. Well, that’s not true. I’m a closet foodie, Pla’s Thoughts is the true foodie. Anywhozzle, back to what’s on my mind. Boneless wings. If they have no bones in it, isn’t that basically a nugget.

So, why do they call it a boneless wing? Maybe they want you to know where the pieces are from. I thought of that too. Why not call them, oh I don’t know, wing nuggets. I’m not on Madison Avenue. That’s not my job just stop calling them boneless wings. They are NUGGETS, I tell ya, NUGGETS. Okay, I’m getting off my soapbox, now. So tell me what you think? Yes, I know there are more serious things I could have talked about. Why not have some fun. Life’s too short.

Hey fam,

Today is “National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day”. This is something that’s near and dear to us. Jax was a shelter pet. His previous person had to put him in the shelter because of where she moved she was unable to have pets (I don’t understand that). But anyway, I’m glad she did because we had this awesome little guy added to our family.

I’m always amazed at how much people will pay for a puppy. If you are into showing the dogs I completely understand the blood line thing. If you are just looking for a sweet lovable dog that will protect you check the shelter. Of course there are other areas to look, such as the rescue groups. If there’s a certain breed you want, there’s usually a rescue group for it.

So, if you want to add more life to your life, adopt a shelter pet. Oh and for you cat lovers, there’s always a need for a pet parents for them too. I’m going to enjoy the rest of the day with my awesome little guy, that my Dad was guided to adopt.

Hey fam,

As some of yall know, I’m in the process of moving. (I know who takes 3 years to move) Anyway recently a friend of mine thought it would be great to start practicing driving with a trailer. Well driving forward at 55 was a challenge. I’m like the Sammy Hagar song “I can’t drive 55”. To be honest I don’t think I’ve driven anything under 70 on the highway. But I will have a full trailer I’m sure I can do it.

Now backing up?! That’s a problem. The first time I did it I promise you it took over an hour to do. The second time, well come to think of it it took an hour as well, but that was stressful. Do you know what it’s like to have a dog criticize you about your driving? Jax had the nerve to start whining because he wanted out. Each time I go out it doesn’t dawn on me that I have to back the trailer in until I get home.

The sad part is that I’m not getting better at it. I do, however, have a new found respect for tractor trailer drivers. Oh yeah, another good thing has happened, I am getting an arm work out from the steering wheel.

Hey fam!

It’s been a rough week for us, especially Jax! Which brings me to the topic for the blog. Although, February is pet dental month Jax is just a special kind of dog that doesn’t follow the rules. This past week my poor little brother lost or should I say had 7 teeth removed.

Turns out our little guy has periodontal disease. His disease is bad enough that it has attacked his bone. His vet now has to check with a specialist to see what could be done to save Jax’s jaw. It seems there is a possibility that he may lose his jaw. Jax has to eat soft food for the rest of his life, which is not a big deal. I’m just concerned about everything else.

So fam let Jax be a cautionary tale. Please make sure that you take care of your pet’s teeth. Make sure your pet has their teeth cleaned yearly. If they tell you that teeth must be removed find out what they will do after. Would you believe that dogs can now have dental implants? Find out if they have gum disease and if it’s affected their bone. Ask your vet as many questions as possible. Make sure there are x-rays taken, if not, asked to have them taken. Also, research your pet. For us, Jax was adopted and we had no idea what breed he was until recently. Some pets have a predisposition for dental issues.

Fam, please say a prayer for Jax and celebrate his healing! Jax will be back to talk to you soon.

Later fam!

It appears that our little “Diva” dog Jax has been busy blogging about his misadventures. And yesterday’s blog didn’t disappoint us with it’s “Rated R” subject matter either. I mean, dogs cruising the scene and sniffing butts for their next mates and/or conquest, really? Well I guess in the dating world of pets, “A dog has to do what a dog has to do, right?”  Although we’ve enjoyed Jax’s “Sex In The City” episode and is looking forward to more, today’s blog “does” talk about another furry four legged friend named Gobi.

Look. . . I don’t know Gobi personally, but her story on how she met her owner can be considered, well . . . “Inspirational”; at least between a dog and it’s owner. The story is, Dion Leonard who’s an Extreme Marathon Runner, participated in a two day Desert Race Marathon in China. As reported by The Independent,  Dion noticed this stray dog running next to him for at least 77 miles.

“This was the first contact I had with her and as I ran off the line I noticed her by my side. I didn’t speak much to her that day thinking she wouldn’t stay with me.”

When “day one” of the marathon was completed, “She (Gobi) followed me into the tent where we slept next to each other. That was it then.” Dion shared both his sleeping space and food with Gobi. And while they ran, he carried her (Gobi) across rivers and over sluice gates that she couldn’t cross on her own.  Once the race was over, Leonard and Gobi formed a special bond which meant, the once “stray dog” now has a new home and owner. Yeah!!

It wouldn’t be “life” if there wasn’t a curve ball thrown. Leonard learned that it would take at least 4 months for Gobi to make it over to the UK due to the required medical check and quarantined clearance entry. And the cost for all of these requirements is about $6,560. But no worries folks, Dion was able to raise the amount successfully through Crowdfunder with an extra $5000 to spare. And our girl Gobi who’s staying with a friend in China, will arrive in Scotland by Christmas!

“That would be amazing. That would be the best Christmas present ever.”

Leonard, I agree. That will be a “totally” AWESOME gift! Well that and “money”. You really can’t go wrong by slipping folks some “Benjamins” in a festive card. I’m just saying.
