Archives for June 2018

Hey fam,

Fam, I hate to do this but I have to add another thing to the “things you can’t do while Black”. Our latest situation comes from Ohio. A twelve-year-old boy was cutting a customer’s grass. Unfortunately, he didn’t know where the property line was and accidentally cut the neighbors yard. Now what I’m about to tell you I’m sure you won’t believe. The neighbor actually called the police on this child. That’s right. Not a “thank you, son, I know you didn’t know” or “excuse me but…” no talking just a call to the police department.

As I have said before, I’m sick of this. What we need to do is talk to one another. Stop using the police to be your go-between. You are pulling these officers from their job. In this situation you mean to tell me you can’t talk to a twelve-year-old?

Well, his customer posted about the incident and it went viral. He now has more customers.  Thank ya Jesus for a great outcome.

Is this something we need? Especially right now. But “whatever”.

Since it appears that none of these television networks have any originality when creating new and innovative shows, I guess bringing a violent  movie and converting it to a network show is the way to go. Well, that’s the case for USA Network new series called the “Purge”; which will be debuting this upcoming September. Yep, they’re bringing the Purge movie franchise to the small screen and “ain’t nobody told me nothin’” . . . until now.

For those folks who aren’t familiar with any of the “Purge” movies, the plot is simple. And that is to allow folks to “vent their aggression out for one night by means of violence.” (And some other stuff. But that’s what I got out it). This USA Network new series is scheduled for 10 episodes with the storyline taken place between the “first and last Purge movie” as reported by Vulture. And as James DeMonaco who’s the franchise creator explains . . .

“The movies are more like events. In the TV show, I think we’re slowing it down, and we’re using this flashback structure to enter into the non-Purge lives of these people. We’re going back six months or two years or into their childhood to see some things that might’ve fed into their decision-making on this particular Purge. Ten hours is allowing us to get deeper into character and deeper into why people would actually consider violence as an option ever.”

Okay . . . What I suggest is, for those folks who are planning to tune in for the television version of the “Purge” series, watch the movie versions first. Just to get an idea and/or concept of what the television version may be like. Or you can just check out this television trailer below.

The number of ignorant and racist “white women” attacking and/or calling law enforcement on people of color is at an all-time high. And apparently, Stephanie Sebby-Strempel, who’s a white woman had no problem adding her name to the list.

It appears as if Ms. Stephanie got herself arrested for not only assaulting and berating a “black teen” at a community pool in South Carolina but she later bit an officer who tried to arrest her.

As Complex reports, this incident happened on June 24th at a community pool in Summerville, South Carolina where a 15-year-old who was invited by a friend that lived in the neighbor, to a community pool. As youths arrived at the pool, Stephanie thought it would okay for her to start harassing these kids by telling them to leave because they “didn’t belong” there. She continued to yell “Get out! Get out! and even called them “little punks” while this incident was being caught on camera. Note, during this harassment, one of the young victims maintain “respect” and said, “Yes ma’am”.

Now, when the Dorchester County police visited her home the following Monday, she thought it would be cool and attacked the officers by pushing one of them against the wall and biting the other officer on the arm, breaking the skin (Who’s the punk now). And as the New York Post reports, Stephanie Sebby-Stremple was charged with third-degree assault and two accounts of assaulting an officer while resisting arrest.

Once this incident went viral, reaching over 400,000 views (Even more now), some loyal “internet sleuths” discovered that racist Stephanie worked at a direct-sales company called Rodan+Fields, contacted them and called for her (Stephanie) to be dismissed from her position. At first, Rodan+Fields put out this statement that some felt was too lenient and it didn’t go over well.

But eventually, this company put out another statement and fired Stephanie Sebby-Stremple aka “Pool Patrol Paula” (That’s her new name from the hashtag dubbed #PoolPatrolPaula).

“In accordance with our policies and after assessing statements from law enforcement, this Independent Consultant is no longer affiliated with Rodan + Fields.” ~Posted by Yahoo Lifestyles

Again, folks, I don’t know what type of juice these “racist” wannabee folks are drinking but I tell ya’, if they don’t stop this crap soon, they are going to run-up-on the wrong person, at the wrong time. I’m just saying.

Now see, that was a mature thing to do. But how about the next time “you just don’t do a ‘homophobic freestyle’ and post it on Instagram”. Yeah?!

I seldom watch “regular” television and when I do, one of my favorite shows is “Atlanta”. Not because I live here (To be honest, I’m from Miami and waiting for a decent show to made about that city), but I find the characters to be both interesting and entertaining. Now, this isn’t to say that I would support them when they are wrong (The actors, that is) because I “like” the show. “Cuz . . . umm . . . It ain’t happening”; especially when the person action(s) becomes hurtful to a “particular” group due to either their ethnic status, religion, gender and/or sexual identification. Naw, dawg, I ain’t that type of person to hate because of differences.

But, if the person lets say is Lakeith Stanfield who’s accused of some type of social injustice like freestyling “homophobic” lyrics, then “yeah”, I expected to hear some type of “reasoning” on why this young man felt liberated enough to freestyle hurtful words about a particular group. And as LoveBScott reports, Lakeith Stanfield attempts to “apologizes” for his faux pas by blaming it on character acting.

So the story goes like this, yesterday it was reported that this fool Stanfield did some type of “homophobic” rap and posted it on Instagram like an immature teenager. And after receiving much backlash like he should have had, Lakeith Stanfield issued a video apology via Twitter explaining why he did such a stupid thing. To sum it up, Lakeith stated that he assumes various characters, with different viewpoints about life. And hey, in this case, he assumed a character that did “freestyle homophobic” rap. Stating that it was “just” another character of his and it doesn’t represent his true beliefs.

Stanfield continues by stating . . .

“I’ve never been homophobic. I’ve never agreed with homophobic thought or hatred towards anyone for that matter. I’m a person that moves in love and I want to promote and continue to push that—and love for all people and all different types of love in every form it takes.”

“I just want people to have a clear understanding because sometimes I make these things that could be very offensive and I don’t always have the luxury of context. So I want to give people the context of me and let them know I’m not with that. I’m not with that at all. I apologize if it hurt anyone sincerely. That wasn’t my intention to just be somebody that was out here just slinging arrows and hurting people, so I want them to know that I apologize if they had to feel sadness from that. My sincerest apologies.”

Well . . . he did say,  “my sincerest apologies.” The question, “is that enough for Lakeith or will the backlash continue?” Only time will tell, right? Check out Lakeith’s apology below if you are interested.  Peace.

hHey fam,
Today I had planned to talk about gluten free stuff but as per usual something else caught my eye. ( I call it my shiny moments my doctor says it’s ADD. Remember when ADD actually meant add? Dang it happened again.

If you haven’t heard, the orange toddler can go through with the travel ban. All in the name of security, they say (the Supreme Court). So now, he can go through with his Muslim ban. We all know it has nothing to do with security. If so, he would put a ban on white males, but hey this is just my opinion. However, the vote was 5-4 for the ban, knowing that Justice’s Sotomayer, Kagan, Bader-Ginsberg, and Breyer dissented made me feel better. It would have been better if we had the 5 but hey. Sotomayer’s dissent was great. She compared it to Korematsu v. United States. In that case, the Supreme court upheld the detention of Japanese Americans during WWII.

I agree with Sotomayer. This ban will be something that we will look back in time that will be regretted.  What do you think fam?
