Archives for December 2016

National Bacon Day is definitely the perfect way to end 2016, I tell y’ah. As a matter of fact, those who are against this unhealthy, porky substance that makes everyone who partakes HAPPY, then screw you! I’m just saying. If there is a time to indulge in something that may kill you in the long run, then bring on that BACON! Yes I understand there is an healthier alternative like “Turkey Bacon” (Yeah I eat that as well), but why deprive yourself on an important “National Holiday” like this. The beauty about this salty product is that it goes well with everything and can be eaten anytime of the day. Yaasss!!

So in celebration of this glorious day, below are  4 tempting and yes “unhealthy” recipes that I suggest you try on this authorized “National Holiday”. DISCLAIMER: Folks, eating a large consumption of bacon at once will definitely bring up your blood pressure. So if you don’t want to have a stroke or be in sitting ER for the remaining of 2016, please eat in moderation.

“Is that BACON I smell? Let the count down begin . . .

intbaconday-main Bacon Caramel Doughnuts: Yeah, this dish may seem a little weird and/or strange but it’s definitely something that “everyone” should try at least once. It gives us junk food junkie life because it’s both “sweet and salty”. To recreate this treat, visit “Foododdity”.

And FINALLY . . .

intbaconday-main  Avocado Bacon And Eggs: This dish is for all the “healthy lovers” out there. Yes, it has both eggs and bacon but it’s encased in a “green avocado”. And everyone knows, anything that’s “green” is good. Seriously, this simply dish can be served using substitute ingredients such as “egg whites and turkey bacon”. But no matter what road you travel, this is some good eating. Check out “Lil’ Luna” for recipe.

Do you guys remember several blogs ago when I talked about “Emojis” and how they  “own” the world? Well folks, I wasn’t kidding back then and I’m not kidding now. It appears that this popular fad, the “Emojis” have finally arrived in Hollywood. Yep you guess it, there’s a movie “a comin’! And I’m definitely opting out from all of this foolishness.

The premises behind this 3D Animation which is being made by Columbia Pictures, is based on this emoji named Gene. It appears as if Gene, who’s unlike his fellow emojis’ multi-expressional, is unable to show his range of emotions. And since he can’t express himself, it makes him kind of an outcast. He (Gene) then decides to go on this journey of becoming a “normal” emoji (Whatever that is). During this life journey that Gene is taking, he travels through various “apps” and has to conquer them as well. This adventure is where Gene meets several “buddies”  like “Hi-Five” and a hacker called “Jailbreak”. With friends like these, “How can this not be a hit?” (Dripping with sarcasm).

If you don’t believe me, then check out the trailer  below.

Folks, this is another attempt by Hollywood to cash in on the latest pop- culture trend rather then creating something original and possibly. . . “ENTERTAINING”!

You guys knew it was coming, right? That time of year when it’s okay to have a drink or two or even ten and not be labeled the neighborhood’s drunk. When ones horrible singing or even kissing a stranger at midnight isn’t seen by others as being foolishly irresponsible or strange. That’s no one would dare not say that “you” didn’t sound like Jennifer Hudson  when singing karaoke in a drunken state while ringing in the New Year.  That time of year that “calls” for celebrating because you made it through the trails and tribulation and is still standing as well as  living. Thank you LAWD!

So for those folks who’s celebrating the ending of 2016 by either throwing a party or having a intimate gathering with family friends or just enjoying life in general, I have 4 of my fave New Year Eve drinks that I recommend you try to bring in the year 2017!

Hey fam!

Yesterday’s news of George Michael passing sent a shockwave to the music world. I admit to loving me some George. When he first came out in “Wham!” with the first single with “Wake me up before Go-Go” was a fun song to listen to. A song that allowed you to be as silly as you wanted to be.

The song that catapulted George Michael was “Careless Whisper” as it was listed as “Wham featuring George Michael”. With that song every teenage girl fell in love with George Michael. He looked sexy and he could sing…have MERCY!!

His voice was definitely legit when he sang along with Smokey Robinson at the Apollo. He also recorded with the Queen, Aretha Franklin! Nuff said! When he announced he was gay, he didn’t lose any fans. Women loved the fact that no other woman could have him. He also became edgier with his music like “I want your sex”.

Well as we say goodbye to another musician, here is one of my favorite videos.

Rest in peace, George Michael. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!

Hey fam!

Yesterday, while I was out, I started to notice something. The something I noticed was that staff at different stores and restaurants were actually saying “Merry Christmas”. I haven’t heard in so long that I commented about it to them. What was said was that their bosses didn’t seem to mind them saying it. One said because everything had been so politically correct, she thought they went overboard during the holidays by not saying anything so she went back to “Merry Christmas”.

There were a few that stated that because they believed in God, it felt weird for them to not say anything. She felt as though she was crossing out Christ not saying. Sort of how you see “X-Mas”. I have to admit to thinking the same thing. However, I don’t like to assume what you celebrate.

Do you also notice that during this time of year, we seem to be on our best behavior? I’ve always wondered why there seems to be an overabundance of niceness now and not throughout the year? Why is it that we can recognize people as people and not with unkind words only during this season?

Well, fam, this “Pollyanna” wishes you a Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah. Also as Ellen DeGeneres says, “Be kind to one another”. Enjoy time with your family!
