Hey fam,

I’m hooked on Netflix. Let me rephrase that, I’m hooked on the new shows. Netflix has two new shows. “Mr. Iglesias” starring Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias and Sherry Shephard. The storyline is about a teacher and an administrator that care about their students. The teacher, Mr. Iglesias, is a recovering alcoholic and former student that came back to be a history teacher. I admit I’m not doing the show any justice but it’s a great binge of chuckles. It’s almost like a male funnier version of “Mom”.

My other new favorite show just came out today. I have already watched it twice. The show is called “Family Reunion”. Thanks to the website shadow and acts. That’s how I found out about it. You see the hook to this show is that every one of the writers is African-American. This is unusual. Please believe me when I tell you that it shows. I have read other reviews that say that this is a throwback show. They obviously didn’t watch the season. Sure there are some moments that are a little throwbacky (yes I made that up) but it is still a great family show. There are ten episodes for part 1. I’m ready to see part two. I don’t know when part two comes. Loretta Devine, Tia Mowry-Hardict, and Richard Roundtree are the seasoned actors for this show. And add Telma Hopkins to the mix and you have a show that reminds you of all of your relatives or friends of your relatives.

So if you are looking for some fun with lessons to be learned, watch these two shows. I will let you know the other shows I like too. Maybe next time we can talk about “Claws” and “Queen Sugar.

Later fam!

Hey fam,

Last post I talked about me going to the movies. I told you about “Shaft”. The other movie I watched was “Emanuel”. This was a documentary about the shooting in Charleston where a domestic terrorist joined a bible study group and then killed nine people.

This film can only be seen tonight. Check your area for the time. The documentary interviews the survivors as well as the family members of those who died. This film will keep you drawn in as you learn about everyone. Why did they forgive the terrorist? You see everything from the time the terrorist walked in the door as well as the interrogation. Nothing gruesome.

Please do yourself a favor and view this film. As I said earlier, this film can only be seen tonight. The viewings coincided with the anniversary of the shooting and the day the terrorist appeared before the judge. The only thing that would have made this better is if there was a moderated discussion. I hope this film will be available for purchase.

Hey fam,

It’s been a while since I went to the movies. Would you believe I’ve actually been to see two, that’s right two movies! One for pure entertainment and the other for understanding.

The first movie was “Shaft”. This is a movie for pure entertainment. It’s pure “Shaft” through and through. If you’re not familiar with the history of the franchise, all you have to do is listen to the words from the original theme song. The words start at 2:41. We are introduced to the three generations of Shaft. I won’t tell you how it became three generations. I’ll let you discover it from the movie. Sure the characters have an edge to them. Just remember the age of the characters. We have the original John Shaft played by the OG Richard Roundtree, who I might add is still sexy as ever. My only question is if this man is doing his own stunts (yeah right).

Then we have the Samuel L Jackson playing Shaft’s nephew(?). He introduces us to the son we didn’t know about. In true Shaft form, he tries to connect with his son. At the same time, he shows his son who he is and the legacy of the name. By today’s standard, this movie can be seen as misogynistic, homophobic. For those of you that are familiar with the franchise, he is still a bad mother (shut your mouth).

With all that being said, I enjoyed the movie. And yes, I would say go see it, especially if you love 80’s and up music.  Remember, it’s just a movie for entertainment purposes only.

Hey fam

Did you see Ms. Willams out with her new boy toy? That’s right, chile. Word on the street is he is 27 years old and a felon. That’s right 27 years old and a felon. As far as the age goes, age ain’t nuttin but a number. Remember, she’s gone through some things. What she’s doing is out enjoying her life.

She was with Kevin, Sr for over 20 yrs. But at one point in time, he was out having his fun. Sure it was for ten years but now it’s his loss. All those times when she was staying home and you were out. Boy Bye! Wendy is doing what Jill Scott sang about. She is living her life like it’s golden.

All the talk has been about Marc Tomblin’s felony. Wendy said she’s aware of his past and in her words, “I’m a 54- year-old grown ass woman. I know what I’m doing” And you know what I have to say is “Do you, Wendy! Get yours!”

Woof y’all,

It’s a beautiful day in my neighborhood. For once all the stars lined up to give me my dream day. Sure this morning it was rainy, and ya know I don’t deal well with rain. What’s that? I didn’t tell you? Well, the main reason is ’cause my chest and legs get wet. Then I get chills and well it’s a nightmare for me, especially if I’m between haircuts.

That’s why I couldn’t stand this morning. But it’s the afternoon and I’m out here enjoyin’ the weather. Oh what a day for me. I’m out here getting my vitamin D. Rolling around in the grass. Just in case you were wonderin’ my sis is out here too. She’s getting her vitamin D and rehydration on. I don’t get how she ends up dehydrated. No worries she’s working on it.

Well, y’all I’m gonna try and sneak to get my runaway on. I know she knows my signs but I’m going to try something new. (CLICK) Awe dang she just put my leash on. I guess I’m gonna just stay right here.

Woof woof out!
